Bath Township Fire Department Responds to Commercial Building Fire 

 

Bath Township Fire Department responded to a 911 report of a fire at the Plastipak Packaging, this morning at 8:02 A.M. The plant is located at 435 Roush Road, Lima, Ohio, in Bath Township. 

Upon arrival, units observed heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building in an area where electric power comes into the facility. 

Plastipak Packaging employees had evacuated the entire building prior to the arrival of the fire department. Bath firefighters were able to get the fire under control within about 15 minutes. American Electric Power was called to the scene to disconnect power from the building. 

An exact damage estimate was not available at the time of this release pending an investigation by Plastipak officials. 

No employees or fire department personnel were injured. 

The cause of the fire was not determined; however, it is not suspicious and fire department investigators believe it was electrical in nature. 

Bath Township was assisted by the Lima Fire Department and American Township Fire Department.
